Cranial Osteopathy
The cranial osteopathic view is that health is the normal state for people. Doctor Shapiro practices the art and science of cranial osteopathy. A total or holistic approach to health cannot exist with restricted cranial sacral respiration. This nourishes the brain, spinal column, and nerves that originate from these parts of the body. The following conditions are common events that restrict movement and cause pathology in this critical source of vitality for the nervous system:
• Any type of head or neck trauma especially whiplash auto accidents
• Falls that cause trauma to the tailbone.
• Orthodontics, especially where teeth have been extracted.
• Extensive dental work where the jaw has been open for extended periods.
• Children who had extensive trauma in birth such as forceps or suction or were delivered by a C-section.
• Severe diseases in the internal organs
• Extensive courses of medications with severe side effects such as chemotherapy, steroids, and non steroidal anti-inflamatory medications, and any other medications sressing the liver and kidneys over long periods of time
Symptoms often associated with osteo- cranial dysfunction can and do relate to all the Cranial Nerves which control all your senses and functions of the body where we have no conscious control. These include functions associated with:
• Vision
• Sight (which caw be double, blurred I or sensitive to bright lights.
• Hearing (which can include vertigo or ringing which is known as tinnitus
• Changes in taste and smell
• Almost any problem associated with the stomach and intestines. Acid reflux, spasm, diarrhea and constipation can all be found with this condition
• Heart pain and palpatations along with blood vessels problems including varicosities and areas of stagnation (Clots).
Pain is the constant that develops with the loss of movement or stagnation in this normal function of our nervous system. The longer there is a restriction of movement in any aspect of human Anatomy the more severe the illness becomes and the more involved treatment becomes. Restoring adequate. movement in cranial sacral respiration is a process where the doctor- patient relationship becomes a healing process involving a mutually nourishing relation between doctor and patient. I welcome you as my cranial sacral patient and sincerely hope I can provide relief from the ailment that has brought you to my clinic. |
